Vonnie Kohn is an internationally recognized artist with a rich heritage. As the daughter of a saddlemaker in the historical stockyards of Ft. Worth, Tx, Kohn was accustomed early in life to the smell of leather, jingling spurs, and Stetson hats. This early exposure inspired a love for painting the American West. Her Native roots also contributed to her portrayals of Contemporary Native American life.
Having a BFA in fine art and studio painting, she is also a printmaker, sculptor (lost wax casting in bronze), workshop instructor & juror.
Kohn is active in Plein Air Paintouts & workshops. Extensive travel adds new inspiration to her variety of subjects--Contemporary Western, portraits, still life, landscapes & wildlife.
"I love to paint!" Whether in nature's open spaces or my own studio, there is immense excitement as I face new challenges in sharing my inspirations with others. Unity, lines of rhythm, color & value all play their part in my celebration of life."
